Eco-Friendly Silica Microcapsules with Improved Fragrance Retention

Microcapsules are employed extensively in various applications; however, most composed of synthetic plastics. Thus, substitution their component materials is essential to prevent environmental problems associated with primary microplastics. Herein, we report the synthesis eco-friendly silica core–shell microcapsules for fragrance retention. The shell was prepared via oil/water emulsion template using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), which added immature prior complete formation shells promote seeded growth further reaction silica. thickness increased from 42.29 70.03 nm, while Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area and internal pore decreased 155.16 30.08 m2/g 92.28 5.36 m2/g, respectively. lower areas retained more than 80 days, even a harsh environment 15% sodium dodecyl sulfate at 60 °C, whereas compound those without additional TEOS treatment completely released within seven days. Practical qualitative evaluation also performed application delivery because enhanced long-term retention ability. Our findings show widespread potential synthesized industrial applications.
